Region 9 Girls Soccer, Volleyball, and NHL; Mammoth and Golden Knights

It was a busy night across Southern Utah on Tuesday as Region 9 girls soccer, volleyball, and other local sports took center stage.

In girls soccer, Desert Hills cruised to a 4-0 win over Hurricane, while Cedar defended its home field with a 4-2 victory over Dixie. Cedar’s Tylee Nielson led the way with two goals to power the Redmen to the win. Snow Canyon also delivered a dominant performance, rolling past Pine View 8-1 behind a four-goal outing from Lottie Smith.

On the volleyball courts, several Region 9 teams were in action. Snow Canyon traveled to Hurricane, Desert Hills faced Pine View, and Cedar battled Crimson Cliffs.

Looking ahead, cross country athletes are preparing for divisional meets this week. Divisionals serve as the qualifying stage for state, with the top teams and individuals advancing to the state championships.

On the professional side, the Utah Mammoth came up just short as the Kings edged them 3-2. Meanwhile, in the NHL, the Colorado Avalanche defeated the defending Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights 4-2.
