Utah Tech and Southern Utah met for the first time as conference foes on the gridiron in 60 years on Saturday night in a renewal of the “Battle for the Ax” rivalry.
However three fourth quarter turnovers doomed the Trailblazers as the Thunderbirds claimed round one of a home-and-home season series, and the axe by a 31-17 decision in the WAC opener for both teams inside Eccles Coliseum.

The Trailblazers Continue to get off to Slow Starts and the Hot start will be the ticket to a win this week back at home the Blazers Offense is putting up 461 yards per game lead by Kobe Tracy, Joey Hobert and Quali Conley. Meanwhile the defense has been susceptable to the big plays and is giving up 491 yards of offense per game.
UT-Key to winning-Trailblazers will need to be efficient on 3rd down on the season UT is just 18/64 on 3rd down a 28% clip. Protecting Kobe Tracy is paramount as the SUU defense Sacked the QB’s of UT 6 times last week. Defensively the Conerbacks have been in flux and that position has to limite big plays. But the Blazers have to stop the run.

ACU wants to pound the ground game with Jeremiah Dobbins & Rovaughn Banks the 2 headed rushing attack has combined for 485 yards rushing so far in 4 games this season. QB Maverick Mclvor has completed 56% passing for 682 yards and 5 tds.
