24 Nov Winter Sports kick off in Southern Utah
Winter sports have taken off in Southern Utah.
Coach Walker Classic
Teams from all over the state converged on St. Geroge last week to participate in the Coach Walker Classic, hosted by Pine View High School. Most region 9 schools participated with others traveling as far as Cache Valley. Region 9 Schools proved to be tough opponets, losing only a small percentage of their games.
Desert Hills also hosted a tournament this weekend that included Crimson Cliffs high school as well as others from around the state. Crimson Cliffs went 2-1 in the tournament while Desert Hills went 1-2.
Girls Basketball
Region 9 girls saw some action this week, however they didn’t perform as well as the boys to start their season. Only Cedar and Hurricane have found wins so far.
Utah Tech and SUU
With football in the rearview, all focus goes to the hardwood. Utah Tech Men’s and Women’s, as well as SUU Women’s teams are seeing some early success. SUU Men’s Basketball team has struggled through their firs few games, but are hoping to get back on track with a game this Friday at Robert Morris University.
Utah Jazz
The Jazz lost a heartbreaker last night against the LA Lakers. Keyonte George had a chance to win it with a 3 point buzzer beater, but was off the mark. Utah falls to 5-11 on the season and will face Golden State tonight.
Vegas vs Utah
The Golden Knights and the Mammoth rematch tonight in Salt Lake City. They met up earlier this month with Vegas getting the 4-1 victory.
