Utah Tech is coming off a road loss to UNI 41-14.

Kobe Tracy got knocked out of the game with a shoulder injury on the 8th offensive play of the game. Boone Abbott got most of the action after the injury at QB and went 12-22 with 2 Td’s and 2 Int’s. Joey Hobert led the receivers with 7 catches for 74 yds and 1 Td. The Blazers Run game was held to just 51 Yds by the Panthers.

Sam Houston hoisted the national championship trophy in 2021, and is heading to the FBS and Conference USA next Summer and only have 9 games on the Schedule, but the Bearkats started the season 0-2, since the Bearkats have won 3 straight games  including thrilling victories as they won the final battle of Piney Woods on Oct 1st 17-16 over SFA And last week beat Eastern Kentucky 25-17. the Bearkats will also have a new play caller for the game as Coach Perry goes to tight end coach presumably and Matt Merkins promoted from Tight end coach to Offensive Coordinator.

The Trailblazers according to coach Peterson took a Step back last week, and are looking to rebound against a Bearkats team that is redshirting a lot of starters, The Blazers lone win this season was at home and they are looking to have Abbott in his 1st career Start feed Wr’s -Joey Ricky and Deven the ball with Boone Abbott slated to start and Vic Gabalis will be at the ready according to Coach Peterson, the Blazers are Hoping to get the run game back on track as Quali Conley only rushed 6 times for 10 yards last week.

UT-Key to winning–

Protect the QB. (Kobe Tracy injury was on a missed assignment when he was sacked) Hot start. The Blazers have not played well in the first quarter, Coach Peterson wants to go turbo early in the game. Continue to Find Joey Hobert the ball ,Hobert this season has  45 catches for 710 yards and 6 TD’s Defense will beed to stop a balanced Rushing attack and Shoemaker a mobile QB and win on the Money downs and get some sacks and takeaways, only 4 sacks so far thru 6 games and 5 int and 5 fumble recoveries.

The Bearkats are well coached with KC Keeler, but have been getting along this season with a number of starters red-shirting with the move to the FBS next season, But  3 Running backs, Zach Hrbacek, Dezmon Jackson & Jordan yates have combined to rush for 654 yards Keegan Shoemaker in just 3 games played has thrown for 353 yards and 3 td’s.

Key to winning–  Play calling change, (Merkins now OC) Shoemaker making good decisions, move chains on money downs, Defensively Bearkats want Jaylon Phillips and Kavian Gaither to make big plays and Defense needs to put quick pressure on Utah tech. They will also Spy on Boone Abbott, a mobile QB.

Joey Hobert (son of Billy Joe Hobert who won a National title at UW in 1991 and was a 3rd round draft pick by the Raiders in 1993, He spent 8 years in the NFL with the Raiders, Bills, Saints, & Colts)
