Utah Tech is coming off a Huge Homecoming Win over Southern Utah University. Not Only did they reclaim “The Ax” Utah Tech rode several record-breaking performances on its way.
This moved the Trailblazers to 3-6 overall and 2-3 in WAC play.
Rickie Johnson the wide receiver junior highlighted the night shattering the Utah Tech single-game record with 277 receiving yards and tied a school record with three touchdown receptions.
Victor Gabalis, a redshirt freshman quarterback, threw for 463 yards on 24 of 36 passing and tied a school record with 5 touchdown passes.
Sophomore place kicker Connor Brookslby became the program’s all-time field goal leader. (23-for-30. .667) including a school record 55 yard boot.
Utah Tech’s defense also came up big with a season high 7 sacks and 13 tackles for loss on the night.
Utah Tech will wrap up its 2022 home schedule with a Senior Day Saturday matinee vs. Tarleton State. Kick off inside Greater Zion Stadium is set for 1 p.m.
The Trailblazers continue their 2 game winning streak heading into this weekend’s final conference game.

Joey Hobert enters the final two games of the season only needing 28 more yards and 2 touchdowns to pass former UT All-American tight end Joe Don Duncan (1,045 and 13 TD’s; 2013) for first place on both of those single season lists.
Tarleton’s strong rushing night was outdone by Abilene Christian passing attack in a 28-23 loss Saturday night. The Texans rushed for 178 yards in the first half, part of their 209-yard rushing night overall. However, ACU put up 389 yards through the air, including three passing touchdowns, to secure the five-point win in the Wildcats’ first trip to Stephenville since 2011. Tarleton falls to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in WAC play.
Matchup History: This will be the 4th meeting between the Trailblazers and Texans. The last one being October 16th 2021 when the Texans defeated the Trailblazers 41-20. Tarleton has a 2 game winning streak against Utah Tech.
