It was another busy night for Region 9 sports across Southern Utah.

In girls soccer, Desert Hills picked up a 3-1 win over Dixie, Crimson Cliffs shut out Pine View 3-0, and Snow Canyon earned a 2-0 victory over Hurricane.

In cross country, Pine View’s boys team and Cedar’s girls team took home Region titles. Up next are the Divisionals, which will be held in Orem on October 14th.

On the pro side, the Utah Jazz kicked off their preseason schedule on the road against the Houston Rockets. All preseason games will be broadcast on Jazz+ and KJZZ. The team held a community scrimmage at East High School on Sunday and left behind a $10,000 donation for the school’s food pantry.

The Utah Mammoth, the state’s new professional hockey team, opened their practice facility to the public this week, drawing hundreds of fans for tours. Their first game is set for tomorrow in Denver. Team owner Ryan Smith hinted there could be more professional hockey coming to Utah, saying on 97.5 The Zone that moving an AHL team to the state is “a real possibility.”

Meanwhile, the Vegas Golden Knights open their regular season tonight against the Los Angeles Kings. Puck drops at 8 p.m.
