09 Oct Breaking Down 4A Girls Soccer Bracket, NHL Season Starts, First Jazz Pre-Season Game
The bracket for 4A Girls Soccer is out now. Three Region 9 Teams will get a bye, meaning they will not see action until October 14th. The Region champs, Snow Canyon solidified a 3rd place spot, while Crimson Cliffs sits in 6th and Desert Hills in 7th. The other Region teams are ranked as follows: Cedar is 15th and will host Provo on Today at 4:00pm. Hurricane is 17th and will take on 16th ranked Timpanogos on the road. Dixie is ranked 20th and will be on the road at 13th ranked Sky View. Pine View did not qualify for the tournament.

Boy’s Golf is at Lakeside Golf Course in West Bountiful for State Golf. Currently Ridgeline leads -4 with Crimson Cliffs in 2nd +2. Dixie is in third +3.
In college athletics, Utah Tech is active across multiple sports today. The Men’s Golf team is in Stocton California for the Pacific Visit Stockton Invitational.
Men’s Soccer is at Greater Zion Stadium today at 5:00pm to face off against San Jose State. Men’s Soccer is currently 1-5-4.
Women’s Soccer is also at home today after the men’s game at 7:30pm. They’ll be playing in state rival Utah Valley. Women’s Soccer is currently 5-4-3.
Utah Tech Volleyball is on the road at Tarleton State. They continue to protect their top spot in the WAC and improve upon their 12-3 record.
In SUU athletics, the Men’s Golf team is at the Pacific Visit Stocton Invitational as well.
Women’s Soccer host Cal Baptist at 1:00pm this afternoon. They currently hold a record of 2-7-2.
Volleyball is on the road today at Abilene Christian. They look to improve on their record of 2-12.
In the pros, the Utah Jazz went on the road for their first preseason game against the Houston Rockets, losing 127-140. Most of the starting lineup was on the inactive list for the Jazz. That gave a great opportunity for some of the young guys to shine. Jazz rookie Ace Bailey got the game rolling with the first points on the board for either team. He finished the night with 25 points leading all scorers in the game. Rockets star forward, Kevin Durant said of Ace Bailey, “Dynamic player… I love that he got drafted to Utah, they got a good development program over there… I’m expecting a big year from him and a big career.”
The Vegas Golden Knights took the ice for their first game of the season against the Los Angeles Kings, falling in a shootout, 6-5. Pavel Dorofeyev had a hat trick for Vegas, and Jack Eichel led the way with 4 points off of a goal and 3 assists. However, it wouldn’t be enough to take down their division rival.
The Utah Mammoth will be on the road tonight for their first game of the season in Colorado Against the Avalanche. Puck drop is planned for 7:00pm.
