The Utah Mammoth opened their home slate in style, taking down the Calgary Flames 3–1 in front of a packed house. Calgary struck first with the lone goal of the opening period, but the Mammoth stormed back and controlled the rest of the game. J.J. Peterka sealed the win with an empty-netter in the final minutes. Fans also got their first look at Tusky, the team’s brand-new mascot, who made his debut during the home opener festivities.

High school soccer continues tonight in Region 9, with just three teams left in the third round of the state playoffs. Snow Canyon and Crimson Cliffs square off in an all–Region 9 showdown at Snow Canyon High School, while Desert Hills heads north to take on Green Canyon in Cache Valley.

Meanwhile in the pros, the Utah Jazz wrap up their preseason schedule tonight against the Portland Trail Blazers. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. And over in the NHL, the Vegas Golden Knights are back home to battle the Boston Bruins, who enter the matchup with a 3–1–0 record.
